Geeks in the Park at Central Park

Fan Fair Fest, Vancouver's own pop culture convention, and Anime Evolution got together last weekend at Central Park in Burnaby to host Geeks in the Park, a summer cosplay meet up! Cosplayers from the Vancouver area came down for a potluck on a lovely sunny day. Even the owner of GottaCon made it down for some potluck food. Some games were played and good time was had by all who made it. AE's own staff photographers, Austin and Simon bring you photos from last weekends event.

AE at Burnaby Heights Hats Off Day Parade

Anime Evolution was once again present at the 2010 Burnaby Heights Hats Off Day. Hats Off Day is where "Heights merchants 'take their hats off' to their community and their customers and the entire Heights community celebrates together". A small group of cosplayers came out early in the morning to participate in the parade itself while other staff members and volunteers prepared the booth for people to visit throughout the day. Pamphlets were handed out to promote AE 2010. There was even an impromptu performance of "Hari Hari Yukai" for everyone to see and enjoy.

Thanks to all the volunteers who showed up to help out and we hope to see you again next year!

Anime Evolution took a trip to Vancouver Island this weekend to take part in Victoria's premier gaming convention: GottaCon. Now in its' second year, GottaCon featured a large assortment of tabletop, console and LAN based gaming, along with like-minded dealers and sponsors, and over 800 attendees! We did our part to join in the fun too, hosting their first costume contest, along with giving away free T-Shirts and other items.
